On November 15 Richmond St. Elementary School will host the first ever ESUSD-ESCEI night for all ESUSD 5th grade and 4th grade Gate students.

This is an enlightening opportunity for your child, if invited, to learn about computer safety and the basics of computer science through our student-mentors, who have experience through the PLTW engineering pathway at the high school and who have also proven their ability in multiple competitions. Three of which won the state finals of the Chevron Design Challenge as freshman. Our mentors excel in both academics and athletics, but still manage to contribute in their other extracurricular activities as well.

With technology progressing rapidly, and no sign of slowing down, it is important for your child to get ahead of the game and enrich their knowledge of such an important subject. When they grow up, there will be jobs that have not even been created yet, most of which will have some field of computer science as an integral skill. Computer science will be a central part of the future of the workforce, as 71% of new STEM jobs will need computing, according to Computer Science Education Week. It is projected that jobs with computer science will increase at double the rate of all other careers in the coming years. CSEW has also calculated that computer science majors make 40% more in their lifetime earnings than the college average. Don't you want your child to have an advantage in their future?

Parents are welcome to watch as long as they don't interact with their child during the activities. If you would like to take pictures during the session, you are welcome to do so. Any questions you have will be received! We would love to hear your feedback!

We hope to see you there!!
